Teaching kids guitar hey all need good thoughts

A friend of mine who is retired studio guitarist came up with idea of teaching kids for free. So for last six months planning, we start tomorrow 4 pm to 8 pm two classes two hours each eleven children split into two groups. 4 pm to 6 pm then 6 pm to 8 pm , our son who is twelve and his friends will be involved from their band. Local music stores really helped out with guitars we picked up 15 Indonesian strats knock offs at good price. And each child will have pocket amp battery operated to take home and practice as well as their strats. So between three of us we have tube amps all set up at local music center. I am just really excited about this program I jokingly told my wife I'll teach kids Mary had a little lamb Stevie Ray Vaughn version. Then she told our son please keep your father focused at 51 she says I'm a big kid.

I do agree on loud is not better at 51 and for fourty years exploring fret board I just started lessons with awesome jazz guitarist I always learn. As I try to explain to my son always be open to learning to add to your chops. To me I use tone volume to coax tones with fingers.

5. Been Playing

a classical guitar for 50 some years now myself. Speed and volume mean nothing to me. Intonation and pronunciation are everything.

7. I was raised on blues and using fingers no pick

But today have many different loves of music and different tunings. As using fingers I get softer tone then with pick I can get the bite ,Thank you for your reply keep playing.

9. Finger tips vs Finger nails

is a debate that has been going on (in Spain at least) ever since the 16th century. I do both. My left hand has no fingernails. On my right hand, they are all sharpened >>>.
Currently working on 3 versions of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." It works as a dirge/symphonic and (sort of as) bluegrass.
Being retired I have a lot of free time to play. Someday the coroner can have my guitar when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.
