4. I did see them in concert in May 1973.

Frankly, it was the worst concert I've ever seen. They mixed on stage, instead of in the audience. Despite having what they billed as "the largest sound system in the world" (nearly 500 speakers) the sound was awful. The vocals were muddy to the point that they were virtually unintelligible, and really only the drums and bass stood out. We left early; the first and only time I ever walked out on a concert.

Was fortunate to have seen them perform it three, maybe four times?

10. Hell, I grew up in the county where its founder (Bill Monroe) was from and I can't stand it.

It is all nasal and whiny. My mother-in-law is buried about 75 feet from Monroe in Rosine, KY. I hate country music just as much.

8. Is today's the anniversary of Jerry's passing?

I was in Washington DC and heard on tv around this time in August. I worked with a bunch of deadheads who were grieving Jerry’s passing when I returned to work. I saw the Grateful Dead one New Year’s Eve at the cow palace in SF. Someone gave us 4 free tickets. None of us were deadheads and left at 12:30 am. Just didn’t get to group.
