My VOX headphone amp is on its last leg.

It's the VOX Classic Rock one with the fixed plug (not the swivel one). It's got a gain, a tone, and a volume, and the gain is poppy and pops in and out when I bump the guitar in the slightest. I'm sick of fighting it.

So anyway, I was gonna replace it with another VOX, but what do you guys think? What do you like? Have you played different ones and like one better?

What say you?

If you don't know what those are, they're the electronic device "behind" the knob.

They can sometimes be replaced, but it will depend on how much it means to you. If it's valuable or sentimental, then you could look into repair shops. If it's nothing special, might be easier to replace.

The dials are buried in it and peak out the top like a pocket transistor radio.

It's all plastic on the outside except for the plug.

I'm afraid if I crack it open, that'll be the end of it.

Here's the unit. You can see the dials peaking out.

And here's the top view.

I had a Rockman back when they first came out. The later versions were better because they were far less noisy, but it was ok.

For the last several years, i've had a Zoom and a Korg integrated pedal board. The latter was usable live (jam nights) but functioned on batteries (not for long though) and had a stereo input and headphone out.

I actually like the Zoom better but it was tedious to program sounds. That said, a good 12 of them were really good as is.

The Vox i've never tried because i've had these others and used them on and off since the mid-80's.

After the Amplug though, it just feels too bulky.

EDIT: I just looked it up. It's called the Pocket Pod. It's got a million settings, two of which are useful.

Hundreds of programs. I liked 10.
But, I altered settings on 6
But, I still like it, and use it
If my wife isn't home, Boogie or Marshall on high gas
If she's upstairs watching TV, Zoom!
