(33,643 posts)It was their first hit song, wanna say it was called 'Shine'?
We were all about the alternative covers ... STP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Counting Crows, REM, U2, Soundgarden, Live, Cracker, The Clash, these guys ... along with some more traditional rock and roll like The Black Crowes & Lenny Kravitz ...
I kinda like their later song 'The World I Know' but I always thought that the vocals were way too wimpy, and it would've been way better if, say, Chris Cornell had sung it ...

(33,643 posts)I was the singer who played a bit of rhythm on a handful of tracks, but when that came out I was like ... "I can nail these vocals ... I wanna play this in the band!" ... so I sat down and spent a few hours working out how the guitar went, and learned it well enough to play the main lines and sing it at the same time so when I showed up to practice my bandmates were all ... YEAH MAN, SWEET! The actual guitarist learned to play the rest of the guitar parts, and we used to ... kick it out pretty good.

(33,643 posts)If you wanted to play covers, unless you wanted buy sheet music, you had to just figure 'em out. In the end I was the one who figured out most of the songs we ended up playing, just cause I was the egomaniac frontman, and nobody else was gonna do it ...
Here's me and my bandmates, circa 1994 ... I *think* this was the day Kurt passed away, or within days for sure. And it was RIGHT around when I learned Shine ... you'll never guess which is Mr L, the frontman ... lol ... I was going for my U2 Joshua Tree look, with the B&W and shit ...
