I dug out an old box set of Cash's best work for Sun and Columbia(1955-1983).
I haven't listened to these 3 cds in about ten years,I love this music.
His sides from 1955 when he was 23 years old reveal a fully formed artist of startling power.
Country themes but not exactly country music, too stripped down and bare.
One of the finest recording artists to ever live.
His "Man in Black" image exuded so much cool it has become standard for rock bands and hipsters ever since.
I also like his American Recording Discs with Rick Rubin from the 90's,which led me to this box set,
His earliest work is stunning and beautiful and unforgettable.

(7,658 posts)that unfortunately is pretty beat up, so not worth anything as a collectible ( I don't think, anyway) but that's OK, I can't imagine taking any amount of money to part with it anyway.
