May I ramble Welch wg 59 Les paul

I am up should be working but weather and double trailers especially ice don’t mix so I called off yea management was deciding what they were gonna do I helped those young kids, to make up there minds teb been doing this 32 years my call driver discretion safety. so I’ve been working on this Welch Les Paul. This is the second one I picked up for 250$ off Craigslist. Amazing platform of a Lester

All nitro finish
Hide glue
Long tenon
Maple cap
All mahogany body
Even a bone nut
Aluminum tail piece

I climbed on scales and I’m 145 pounds and with guitar it was reading 155 a beast.
What I gathered from internet was heath Welch was having them made in Korea and assembled in North Carolina. Then Gibson came knocking with a cease desist order why because brand new with knock off pink lining case they were 500$.

Originally it had stock Wilkinson humbuckers and not sure about the pots. But in reading heath Welch knew players would upgrade , the first Welch wg 59 I bought I put in alnico 5 humbuckers that a friend of mine hand winds and CT’s pots and new caps and it’s a tone beast. Holds its own with my 95 gibby standard and my tokai Les Paul.

This second Welch I dropped in some hand wound not high end botique 250$ humbuckers no way to much cash just for a name. I had my friend make me set of 59’s total cost 80$ And a case of beer I quit drinking but he loves beer. dude is awesome, he has built some of the 1 to 5 watt tube heads we use to jam at house. He is retired engineer and this is a hobby.

Resistance on these 59 with alnico 2 magnets around 8 in bridge 7 in neck and 4 conductor hum buckers if you ever wanna coil tap, but I do not like coil tap. Coil tapped Les Paul Kind of like taking your high school
sweetheart on a date in dads rambler station wagon.

And I’m going CT’s pots and bumblebee caps where you hear the nice wood tone, this is a hobby and I enjoy it.

I'm glad I have lead singer syndrome. Guitar player disease is way more time consuming and expensive!

If I'm going to hoist a 10 pound guitar it's going to have hum buckers so I can make my neighbors deaf.

If I want a Strat sound I'll play a Strat. I do like humbuckers with a cover plate. They are mellow and warm. I get a really good Carlos Santana sound on my LP neck pickup with the tone knob at 5.
