Lil Nas X - Now crusty-country-music-fans-want-to-boycott-wrangler-jeans

Why?
https://thegrapevine.theroot.com/crusty-country-music-fans-want-to-boycott-wrangler-jean-1834966840

This week, after Wrangler jeans announced a new yee haw agenda capsule collection with Lil Nas X, some country music fans are calling for a full-out boycott.

The limited edition pieces are a nod to Lil Nas X’s No. 1 hit, “Old Town Road,” which features country star Billy Ray Cyrus. “Cowboy hat from Gucci/Wrangler on my booty/Cant nobody tell me nothin’,” X rhymes. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts last month

But some saddle-bagged skin tags are feeling real burned by the thought that their favorite dungaree brand would dare collaborate with a young, black, musician.

Lil Nas X speaks for most of us when he replied to the drama with a simple tweet: “Y’all really boycotting Wrangler?? Is it that deep?”

Yes it is that deep!

.... why they have their undies in a bunch. Pretty cool song, but it ain't country. If anyone thinks it is country, then they don't know what country is.

...ergo neither is this crap. Pop country, and rap country is just pop and rap with a poor imitation of a country twang. Ain't no country to it. A lot of people don't realize it, but with few exceptions, country music died several years ago. These two guys can say it better than I can.

It's just as country as all that other country that's out there right now. Right now.

For people to say that modern white pop country is country but modern black pop country ain't, is bullshit.

And also racist. (But that's not surprising in the least, is it.)
