Right wingers/Trump chumps in music.

Do any fellow musicians suffer a lot of right wingers in general, and Trump chumps in particular,
in your local music scenes?

I'm becoming more shocked every day at how many righties/trumpers there are "coming out", so to speak, in my circles

Musicians are supposed to be cool. They are supposed to be more in tune with the World. They are supposed to be more thoughtful and, dare I say, caring for those around them. All kinds of players in my universe are showing me that they're nothing but "Ted Nugents".

"shut up and play your guitar" is always applicable.
Artist do tend to be fucked up in (hopefully) interesting ways, but why tolerate willful ignorance
or serious character flaws when you don't have to?
Perhaps it's a side effect of the genre you're into?

Maybe you're playing in the wrong universe. I suspect the smarter and more empathetic ones are laying low for the time being, but they're out there.

Good time to pick up a new instrument and see what gifts it offers.

Here in central KY it seems like the commercial country music guys are mostly trumpansies. The tech and labor guys too. I worked with a guy who went on to a gig in a major Nashville act's band, and he and his people were all in on the Trump Humping a couple of years ago.
I hope some of the more thoughtful ones have broken the spell, but big hat guys aren't known for critical thinking....

Combine that with what RW billionaires from all over the world have wrought, both of which have been brought to bear on our population on a massive scale ... you get a lot of people falling for it.

However, once the pandemic took a stronghold on the music scene, I decided to bail on playing gigs while the other guys continued playing on. One in particular didn't feel that Covid-19 was all that big of a deal. Needless to say, it created a rather strong divide between us, and I highly doubt that I'll get my gig back once this is over. On the other hand, I'll admit that I had thoughts of exiting the band for quite some time now, so the timing may have actually worked out pretty well.

Does that mean they're more crappy guitar players?
Because Nugent is a hack.
I had 3rd students that could play his stuff. If they asked me about learning something by him, I'd tell them they didn't need me for that. They could figure out that pedestrian dreck by themselves.
Want to lean George Lynch, or Eddie V, or Yngwie, I'm your guy. But I'm not wasting time teaching that to anybody.
Geez, it would mean I'd have to listen to it!
As to your question, my 20+ year drummer turned much more conservative in his 40s.
The guitar player and co-lead singer, and the bass player are still very liberal.
I don't care much about those folks I don't actually play music with.
