Musicians
Related: About this forumI have a nomination for Dad of the Year Award...
This guy, Hovak Alaverdyan, a fantastic musician of Armenian heritage who is a songwriter/producer. Quite an accomplished musician who happens to have a ten/eleven (now?) yo daughter who took to music at an early age.
What he is now getting famous for is being the Dad of Ellen...
My first exposure to her (with Yoyoka Soma on drums, recorded about 18 months ago)
An original!

(93,202 posts)Seriously on it with ease.
I never learned an instrument to play but at her age I was performing classical vocals with solos and I could read what I was singing. If my parents ever gave a shit...
But this girl is smokin! I watch cover and other videos of her and Yoyoka at least once a week, they give me hope for the future in a strange but satisfying way. There are other youngsters out there who are amazing but these two seem to capture my attention. They have parents who are able to give them the room they need to develop their gifts, it's fantastic. Yoyoka's parents deserve kudos too, she is now studying music and English in an arts school in the Bay area as of early this year.
Ellen has already been around the block with noted musicians, including Bootsy Collins! There's a video of her on the Steve Harvey Show (never knew it existed until I started looking for Ellen vids) but he gets Bootsy and other noted bass players with some funk cred talking to her and cheering her on when she was nine. Worth the watch, it's fun.
Just f'ing stunning and I love it.

Smile on her face, just bouncing to the groove.
That kid playing the drums is a monster, too.

(93,202 posts)A child prodigy in every way. Started playing at two years old. There's video. She was playing gigs at seven and had a utoob drum lesson channel at five! She's played in stage with some names before she was eleven. Her parents have had a band for some time it appears. Everything was available for her and she wasted no time in getting to a serious level of skill and talent. She has, this year, moved to the bay area to attend an arts school. Her younger brother is no slough either, he plays drums quite well and plays guitar also. Once again, there's video.
There are others out there but I focus on these two as they are just a pleasure to watch. I have taken to watching a couple reaction people on the toob and seeing the reactions when they see/hear the first three bars, they are already blown away. I have a little experience with drum kits, my brother was a drummer back in the day and I learned to play a little back then, guess that helps keep my interest knowing what goes into what she's doing. I am looking forward to what these two young ladies accomplish as time goes on. They have stage and studio cred, already writing, both of them. And they know each other.
