Related: About this foruma gang of thieves came to my house and i got a shot of one of them with my camera!
a group of about ten thieves came onto my property while i was out with my camera waiting for the monkeys to pass by so i could photograph them. the thieves saw me and decided not to approach, except for two of them. they had their eyes on some bananas that the monkeys had previously been enjoying. the two made a break for the bananas right while i was standing there but when they got close, the monkeys came out of nowhere and chased them away!
here is one of the culprits. he has been identified as Pteroglossus frantzii. be on the look-out!

(13,964 posts)They don't do a thing about weeding around the base of the bushes or watering them.... well they do leave a bit of liquid sometimes.
They just take.

(5,358 posts)Round here, our thieves are blue jays and raccoons swiping cat food from the porch kitties, who are so spoiled they just watch them eat with a bemused, ah, what the hell look.

(9,983 posts)the trick is getting close enough for a good, detailed shot.
i'm playing around with a couple different locations for a bird hide....ultimately, i want to be able to get close enough to birds and monkeys to be able to shoot them with my 105mm micro nikkor lens...the only way that happens is if they can't see me.

no magpies here, but we have magpie jays...one of these days i need to get back up to guanacaste and photograph them.

(7,930 posts)So you know what I thought.
Then I saw there were 10 of them and figured they ran off when you winged a couple and were lucky to be alive.
Anyway ... lovely pictures of what we in N.A. think of as an exotic bird.
But yeah, I really need to drink more coffee and actually put on my glasses in the AM before I try reading.
