mike_c informed me that these are not aphids but apterous (wingless) thrips. If you aren't familiar with mike_c, he frequently posts stunning high-resolution photos of insects in the Photography group. I'll defer to him when it comes to entomology and photography.
They've infested the climatis. Annoying little sap-suckers, but I think they're kinda cute. No?

Some insects are infinitely more beneficial than others.
My little friends never bother me.
As you can see, they are preoccupied with pollen.
And they know a good photo-op as well.

(3,569 posts)eradicate. Neem oil is good at getting rid of them, and in a pinch washing plants with dishwashing soap like Dawn.
