(13,782 posts)How do you set the self-timer for two days time warp?
I'd like to speak with you privately about some "investments" at the race track.
Have a Happy Fourth (unless you already did!).

(52,241 posts)My family was never big on celebrations, just the opposite of me. I must have been adopted since I am a freak compared to them. When I lived in Phila there were tons of fireworks within walking distance and for 3 years I never missed a display. Watching them reflect on the Delaware River and from behind the Art Museum was heaven to me. My two Chihuahuas were never frightened in the least. My last baby even fell asleep on my lap on several occasions during the fireworks.
Now I see all of the drone and laser firework displays and I just don't get the same thrill.

(5,138 posts)I've haven't yet attended fireworks shows in Philly, which is an hour's drive east of Lancaster. Seeing fireworks against an iconic backdrop or reflected on water, as you've described, is quite different than the show I saw outside of a baseball stadium Saturday night. Lancaster sometimes holds its fireworks at a downtown park where the backdrop is the architecture of a nearly 300-year-old city. When I was a child my family attended the July 4 fireworks shows on the National Mall where the explosions of color were reflected on the reflecting pools and the backdrop was the Washington Monument, the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial.
I don't object to public fireworks shows, which are usually conducted by professionals, held at a safe location and last less than an hour. But I do object to fireworks--some of which are commercial-grade--being set off in residential areas at all hours of the day and night. They are a nuisance, a fire hazard and a terror to some pets and humans with conditions such as PTSD.
Happy Fourth of July, BigmanPigman!

(52,241 posts)are mere imposers of REAL fireworks, the kind you I are talking about. Even music joins the in a the show with a real symphony, the sights and sounds are so well matched. I always left feeling like an American. You had to ge there.

And one looks like a dandelion, seeds just waiting for a breeze to blow away.
Thank you for being so generous with your photos, Mousetoescamper.
