Gulf Fritillary

This critter is similar to the Monarch in that they only eat one plant; Passion Flower. I have, er had two vines on my balcony and they covered about 8 feet of the handrail. One of these came by and laid eggs. Now I have no vines at all. I do have three chrysalis that I'm monitoring in hopes of catching one emerging. That usually happens just after sunrise to minimize the predation.

There must me some native May Pops growing somewhere near other wise I don't know why I suddenly have a dozen or so flitting around.

I just planted a May Pop on the back fence so next summer I can share with them and still have some blooms for me as well.

I hope your plans come to fruition. It would be wonderful to see these amazing creatures flitting around your garden.
