https://petapixel.com/2023/07/11/real-photo-disqualified-from-photography-contest-for-being-ai/A genuine picture taken on an iPhone was thrown out of a photography competition after the judges suspected that it was generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
Suzi Dougherty had captured a striking photo of her son with two smartly-dressed mannequins in an intriguing pose while visiting a Gucci exhibition. Happy with her creation, she entered it into a photo competition.
Dougherty didnt think much more of it until a friend showed her an Instagram post declaring her photo ineligible because the competitions organizers suspected it to be an AI image.
...
There is no way we can be completely sure the image submitted was made by AI but you really cant ignore the gut instincts of four judges.
Charing Cross Photo later apologized for their mistake and called the photo a great play on what is real and what is not. ... Too late for the prize.

(7,891 posts)why is mom in the bathroom with son in the first place, hmm? And an all-red one at that, very Kubrickesque if you ask me.

(6,934 posts)...sounds like it's part of an exhibition that includes several made up rooms and photo locales (including on that lets you're selfie look like you're in front of the Hollywood sign).
Pretty sure this is a pic room in the exhibit. But, if not, yeah - pretty weird to take mom to the bathroom. lol

(3,379 posts)It is part of the exibit. The 2016 Spring campaign involved an arty Berlin bathroom as part of it's photo and video sets. That has been recreated for the exibit and that's where the above photo was taken.
