Be sure and check out the Maritime Museum at the end of Avenue Parallel - along with the medieval wall there.
The Mercado on Las Ramblas is wonderful, though for a less touristy area, try the Poble Sec neighborhood.
Oh, and Barcelona is one of the places where you don't drink the tap water.

Portuguese reds are very good. The whites? Thin and acidic, though the cava (sparkling) is pleasant.
