(17,022 posts)people eat frog legs. Do they eat toad legs as well?
Ms. Toad
(35,516 posts)I'm not aware that anyone eats toad legs.

(17,022 posts)Some people around here eat the frog legs. I've never tried them myself, but people say they taste like chicken. My great-grandmother got sick after eating some frog legs and she was never able to eat any kind of seafood after that. She couldn't even stand to be in the house where people were cooking seafood. I doubt I'll ever try them. I'd rather just eat chicken.

(132 posts)I sometimes download your fantastical images and try to 'see' what is reflected in the 'eyes-of-your-subjects'.
In the recent past (at these attempts) I always thought it was 'you' in the lighted (eye) reflections. However, now I see that it's a type of lighting device inside a reflector, as depicted in your image entitled 'nrqflyd.jpg'.
Thank you for all of these very 'impressionistic' photographs.
Ms. Toad
(35,516 posts)I've been doxxed in real life, so I needed a name that couldn't easily be used to find me. In fact, I was receiving death threats around the time I joined DU. (Second time. Opposite ends of the political spectrum. It's nice to be hated by everyone.)
I grew up on a farm, and spent most of my summers playing with toads. I loved toads so much my parents had to make rules about how long I could keep the ones I found to be sure that I didn't love them to death.
I tried several variations of toad. Toad was taken. I think Tody Ody was also taken. I don't remember the others I tried. So I settled for Ms. Toad (even though I hate titles).
Costa Rica is a possibility. No wonder you have so many frogs around to pose for you! But there's water nearby. I could go diving.
Anywhere near Monteverde?
Gato Moteado
(9,927 posts)i don't even know what that means! hahahaha
i'm actually nowhere near monteverde (but i love monteverde!)....i'm on the southern pacific coast near a town called golfito.
Ms. Toad
(35,516 posts)But almost certainly some variation of toady ody. Might have been toadyody.
I tend to give things names and then play sound games with them. Our cat Inky gets called pinky or pinkleton. So it's just a rhyme with Toady.
Pacific Coast . . . sounds like diving! (I had planned a dive trip to Grand Cayman last March, but it fell through - so I looked at Costa Rica as a possibility (I didn't get as far as narrowing it down to a location).
My parents have been to Monteverde, and it's connected to the wider Quaker community.

(9,927 posts)...so i've only snorkeled in the golfo dulce here.
i did dive in grand cayman in 1990....that was amazing.
