(13,394 posts)7. Some old peoples faces have character and hide stories. Mine doesn't. But my father ---
He was 5' 5" but his face --- he looked like John Wayne.

(1,230 posts)9. What a remarkable portrait! Right up close. Exquisite.
The topography of his face shows years of working hard and years of smiles and laughter.
I made him screen-sized and just gazed into his eyes awhile. The longer I looked, the more he seemed to become the face of a grand old tree-trunk, carved and gnarled and ruggedly magnificent. Blink, and hes back at the pond, listening to his wifes suggestions of where to place the plants.
Thank you for sharing your fathers evocative and heartwarming portrait, Tom Yossarian Joad.
