Don't go sailing though.

"Red sky at night, sailors' delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning." Very old saying used by mariners.

My mom used to say it all the time. She didn't sail or work on a boat for a living, but she did grow up trawling for crayfish. Trawl also means to sift. You sift through the mud and water to snatch up crayfish. A flat sieve works. Sure, you could do it by hand, grabbing up one at a time but that's only fun if you're curious. If you're doing it as a food source, you trawl.

It was a nice sunrise. No clouds around here today so it's kind of boring today..

Full cloudy here now.
I woke to nature’s call about 3:00 this morning, took care of business, then went out on the deck to see if I could catch any Perseid meteors showering. Sky was velvet black, full of stars. I saw one large meteor that flamed out quickly. 15 minutes and no more, then the clouds started moving in.

We’re on the outer limits of peak showers, but I’ll try again tonight if skies are clear.

We had our hot, dry spell really early, this Summer. Of course our hot weather pales in comparison with what's happening in Texas and other states to our south.

to the clinic to get "snipped" this morning. I walked out of the house with him and the full force of the early morning sun hit me smack in the face. For a second, I couldn't get my bearings, it was so bright. Reminded me of the morning sky and temp on 9/11...

We got hit with a couple of big storms yesterday. They took down the roof of our catio and left branches all over the driveway and yard. Hope the sun stays strong for a while and dries things out a bit. There's a lot of work to do out there.

Meanwhile... I'm counting the hours til I pick up my baby at 3pm..

Big fire to the east. Mandatory evacuations. 102F yesterday, 100 right now. It was predicted to be 105 today but I think the smoke is blocking some of the sun’s radiation. Car had a coating of fine ash.
