Two details from my county's courthouse

1. That's a beautiful old courthouse. My county courthouse has some decorative

gargoyles on the upper level. One of my partners had a couple in his office, after they had been removed for some reason. His phone extension was also 666!

2. Oh wow! No kidding!

This one was built in 1895.

3. No kidding. A few years ago my brother sent my an old newspaper photo

of a number of people standing in front of that courthouse. The caption was “Polk County grand jury members for the spring term 1929.” My maternal grandfather, whom I never met, was standing in the back row.

I love learning about family history. How fascinating that your grandfather was on a grand jury! I wonder what kinds of cases he heard.

My husband was foreman of a grand jury back when our first son was born - late 80s.

4. Beautiful, where is this?

This one is my county's - '70s government Brutalism at its finest. You all got to see it during the George Floyd trial.

I love old buildings like this one, with elaborate designs. Modern buildings are great too, but these complex examples just suit me down to my toenails!
