Lights against the Cathedral, Strasbourg

A good number of European Cathedrals have light shows against their building in the summer. Some are on the front. This show is on the side.

Front with normal lighting at night.

And they can't have been easy to catch; the light is so fleeting.

Just gorgeous!

Thank you.

You have no idea how many electrons got recycled afterwards.😁
They did change reasonably slowly while flowing.

I haven't gone up the tower yet. I've been up a few. When you get to the top you appreciate the view.

Strasbourg Cathedral that is famous for the yellow color in the stained glass windows. The rose window is spectacular. Had never seen the outdoor lighting...Peace.

We also got to see the Astronomical clock inside. It was Christmas 2021, and I've never seen a more magical city during the holidays.

Would love to go back in the summer.

The island turns into Christmas town and is very walkable. The click is amazing.
There is one outdoors in Prague also.

...engineering that was, for several centuries, the most accurate time piece in the world.

The Strasbourg Clock.

I've only spent four or five days in Strasbourg, this on a business trip, but it is a very beautiful city.

And just think how long ago this was built - before all the modern tools and equipment they didn’t have (and weren’t even conceived of yet).

I visited this cathedral in Strasbourg 3 decades ago, during the day - these night views are most interesting in that they seem to enlarge the cathedral's size even more! On the other hand, it could just be my fading memory.

Thanks for posting these, Old Crank.

- an old crankess here.
