This year was quite the scene. Record crowds, helped by 2 extra days. Not a record for amount of beer poured. People are lowering tehir intake. The weather was exceptional. Only one day with rain. Last year it was 5-10 C colder and only one weekend sunny day. The last day. So I think people were happier in general and you could wander around the carnival part and not be packed into the big tents.
As Australian as the Blooming Onion

The good news is that we are 25 minutes away by subway and walking, the bad news is we are 25 minutes away by subway and walking.
It is now over and I can pick through the ridiculous number of photos.

(18,599 posts)How was the beer?
I post to keep some level of sanity from the latest FAUX/GOP outrage pronouncements.
My wife likes the beer. I don't drink bier. She has some Weißbier preferences. I am developing a potentially dangerous taste for Schnapps. 😊

(3,571 posts)to visit many of the cities you post pics of. Unfortunately life had other ideas and his COPD requires more oxygen 24/7 than is allowed on commercial flights. We don't want anyone to feel sorry for our predicament. We want our friends and everyone on DU to learn from our mistakes.
TAKE those planned trips NOW. Tell the people who matter that you appreciate them NOW. Don't put things off, thinking you'll have more time when you retire. Believe me, SOMEDAY NEVER COMES.
Thanks Again, Old Crank from Ziggysmom and the Hub

(4,645 posts)We feel pretty lucky. My wife got a job here 8 years ago and now we're retired. I've been telling people that I worked with to get out of the race while they can still enjoy their free time. One never knows.
My dad made to 59 with emphysema. It limited his travels. Fortunately my mother got to visit me and my late wife on Crete.
Take care of yourselves. I'll be posting more as we get around and I dig through the archives.
