End of the Day at "Erwin's Pond"

This small lake in the Lake Desire Nature Area in southeast King County was “discovered” and named by noted landscape photographer Erwin Buske. It’s a great location, especially for sunset. That evening was a waiting game, expecting the setting sun to drop below the horizon and light up the high clouds. I wasn’t disappointed.

I appreciate the effort that goes into getting shots like these.

Just getting to a good location takes time and timing.

I travelled three hours to a dark skies park in May, hoping to get some Milky Way shots, and it was a total washout. Clear skies were forecast that night but upper atmosphere ice crystals ruined visibility. I always enjoy the adventure, though, and sometimes there's camping involved.
