I knew that eventually the rain would stop and then we'd see the snow! The tallest peak is 10,000 feet, so there you are.

Today could not have been more perfect: plenty of parking, a fantastic view and all the time in the world.

I sure did take it! My camera and lens were both approved of by Andy and I think he'd be proud to see these.

It is the best place to get this view, from the Kenny Hahn Recreation Area. Unobstructed views! You do have to walk a bit, but by gawd, it is more than worth it.

My wife and I have been binge-watching some Dragnet episodes lately and as we hear Friday intone “this is the city” we can see the City Hall is the tallest building in L.A. These days, you would barely be able to see the City Hall in that view of the skyline.

In Jack Webb’s opening “Dragnet” monologues, there are interesting facts I have learned about Los Angeles. For a long time, no building was allowed to be taller than 13 stories because of the threat of earthquakes. I guess they have made significant safety improvements in building and constructing taller buildings since “Dragnet” ended its run in 1970.

Mount Baldy in the middle am I right?
Did you take those from Griffith Park, near the observatory? The view looks familiar.
I'm about 50 miles south of there, close to Disneyland. We've got a nice view of the mountains here too but the Santa Ana skyline is no where near as impressive.

I believe that the tallest peak is Mt. Baldy.

I was at the far end of the Kenny Hahn Recreational Area which is perfectly positioned for these shots! I'm not sure where Griffith Park is in relation to this spot. It's located on La Cienega Blvd, near the Baldwin Hills.

I'll pm you a link to me, if you're interested!

That recreation area is full of wonderful spots. I don't know how many acres it has, but it's big! I go to see the mountains, which are at the far end from the entrance!

They charge for parking on the weekends, but not during the week. And I think they open at 6AM and close at 6PM.

It's a great resource!

I was not disappointed, and there have been times in the past when I was. But not today! It was perfect today.
