Anyone else have a Kodak Brownie Box Camera?

Back in the day. In reading about Frank Herbert I discovered he had one as a 10 year old. That is about the age I was decades later when I got mine.



Loved it and this video really brings back the joy of that camera. Hosted by a kid!

1. Got one!

My childhood photos were taken with a Brownie Reflex. Dad worked for a magazine where reporters used Speed Graphics. Too bad he didn't borrow one!

2. My family had one of those when I was a kid.

I have all the old family pictures, many of which were taken with that camera. The first photos I ever took myself were taken with it. I don't know what happened to it, except that it was not among my parents' belongings when they passed. They got rid of a lot of stuff when they moved from Illinois to Georgia in 1979, to retire in warmer weather and closer to my mom's siblings. If they still had the Brownie camera by then, I'm pretty sure it didn't make the trip.

4. Parents did

I guess they used it at one time, but it sat up in the closet for many years. Don’t know what they did with it. One of my sisters may have taken it.

It took me right back to childhood. That camera and a wrist watch felt like rites of passage. Along with my chemistry set.

i have several like the one you posted but i don't think i ever tried using them. i have, however, used the bakelite cube ones that came out later.

I gather that the film is still available. It was fairly complex. Hope you give one a go.
