(5,141 posts)I like this shot, but the details of craters and other features are lost in the haze.

(5,141 posts)I took the original of the image below and tilted it 35 degrees to the right. This isn't how the moon ever hangs in the sky, but it's interesting. I might give this its own post.

(57,430 posts)A friend asked me why we can see the moon during the day.
I had no answer.

(5,141 posts)the surface reflects the sunlight. It can be seen between moonrise and moonset, but it's not usually noticed on hazy days when it's washed out by the sunlight. The sky was mostly clear today, except for some passing clouds, and the moon was directly overhead when I took the shot. I often see the moon on clear days.

(57,430 posts)But the friend I was walking with is Chinese, recently moved here to the US and was freaking out.
They had never seen the moon during the day before.
It was like magic!
I think because of the pollution in China, it is always hazy there and they don't see the moon during the day?
Yes today was windy and perfectly clear, one tiny cloud on the horizon.
The moon was prominent in the afternoon.

I just cannot think of enough good words to praise your moon with.
