I've reached a point in my life where I am parting with stuff I haven't used in a long time. I used to take a lot of photographs and had a number of cameras. But really since the iPhones have come out, I've not used traditional cameras in years. So what to do with my cameras??

I initially thought sell them, but when I checked online there were so many used cameras for sale I thought, it would take forever. I would also have no idea what to charge. I checked prices for one and it went from $89 to $400.

Then I thought I would just take them to the local thrift store that supports a woman's shelter. But again, questioned whether they would ever sell.

So finally, I thought of the wonderful photographers here on DU. I know most of you probably use very sophisticated photography equipment, but on the off chance someone might be interested, I am offering my 4 cameras and lenses here. When I say offering, I mean no charge, I'm giving them away.

I really would want them to go to someone who might be able to use them.

1. I donated mine to my high school that had a

visual arts program with a dark room.
I gave them a Canon, Leica and Nikon.
They are still in use there. I'm friends with the teacher.

I have ambled down that path a ways myself in recent years and applaud both your thinking and choice of actions. I was stunned to realize a couple years back that a part failure on my beloved Lumix digital camera would have cost 80% of the original cost to repair and so replaced the camera, while I continue to sidestep my own box of Pentax bodies and lenses. And I have not succeeded in getting over the inertia that has me stalled with a thousand or two old transparencies still awaiting scanning (besides the 15K I did scan in my initial burst of enthusiasm).

4. Yes something I have considered for a while but kept putting off.

Hated to pass on items that were a part of my life for so long. But today I finally took the plunge.
