I hear you about the cabbage . . .

I really had a time of it, getting these photos launched from my own photo file into my SmugMug file. I was using my desktop, as I always do, but the photos would not load into SmugMug!

I've never had that happen before, ever.

So I got my laptop, and then everything worked. From the camera, to the laptop, into SmugMug, and then onto DU; it all worked.

Something must be wrong with my desktop.

Glad you enjoyed!

That last one is the flower of the artichoke! I've seen them going to seed when they look like this. Love the color!

See my post #4 for the detailed explanation of what happened.

In the last week I had a strange occurrence. Mild liver pain of long duration, almost 3 years, cured by a quart of strawberries and a pint of blueberries. I swear. Ate the berries, went to sleep with pain there and all over, slept like a log, woke up no pain, now a whole week, knock wood. Phytonutrients they keep telling me. I'm believing!

Thanks for the photos, so high quality, we get good produce but not quite that quality.

What a great way to get your phytonutrients! And I'm glad they can help you that much!

Good quality photos aren't too difficult with quality cameras and lenses. And living in CA means high quality produce; a lot of it comes from nearby.

The Iris is beautiful and so is the anemone and I have ideas for those veggies. I cannot pass a farmstand when I see produce like this. We have so many in our area so we get a wonderful variety of stuff including pies and muffins and cakes and cookies and crafts galore. I live near many talented people and we all love when they share their handmade goods

It's fantastic to live in an area where there are gifted people with their crafts and produce.

Being in such an environment lightens the burden of living through these crazy times.

And the purple kohlrabi, I think?, is gorgeous. But what are the yellow berries?

And I guessed your artichoke was a passion flower. I can’t believe how precisely you capture the minutest details of texture. You are an amazing artist.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful words.

The yellow berries are gooseberries. The purple vegetable is indeed kohlrabi. And artichokes, if they're allowed to go to seed, produce flowers like the ones pictured.

I wanted to really capture the artichoke flowers. Having a good eye is certainly part of that, but also having superior equipment is really important too. It brings home the details, just as it did with the cabbage. Which is why I photographed it. Something about the way it looked drew me in.

I have only seen (and grown and eaten) gooseberries that are green with very distinct white stripes, sometimes with a pink translucence. I have never seen them for sale here in the northeast in any color. Because the plants carry white pine rust, their cultivation is restricted here.

Now I’m madly curious about the taste of those sunny gooseberries of yours.

Thanks for introducing me to something new!
