5. Downslope to the left is the "bowl" between two mountains.

The bowl is where the elk hang out. And it is where mountain lions and wolves look for lunch (the bears snack on the abundant huckleberries). I saw a mountain lion cross this road in almost this same spot in mid-August. On August 31 two bow hunters sighted a mountain lion in the bowl, and another bow hunter was charged by a large black bear. Last year I saw a huge bull moose trotting along this road. Almost every night in the lookout tower, I can hear the wolves.

I have a shorter one-lane steep driveway shared with a neighbor.

Who has a big-ass pickup truck.

10. For years, now. I've wanted to ask if I could visit the lookout for an hour or two.

I think I'm too old now, to make the drive.

Thanks for years of excellent photos

Love your photos from the Bitteroots and the South. You have quite a great personal history, also.

On second thought, are you just trying to make us jealous? If so, you have succeeded!

Seriously, though, thank you for sharing the beauty.
