This series (2018) was shown again on the the local station yesterday. What a character- Alexander Wilson who served in 2 world wars, deceived 4 wives, 7 children and many others about his personal and professional life. A well done, finely acted drama about the life and relationships of an adept conman.
Talented lead actress Ruth Wilson's grandmother was married to Alexander which makes the drama even more interesting.
Powerful series about the life of Alexander Wilson (1893- 1963), a 20th c. British man who served in the army and intelligence service, held various jobs and was convicted of theft at two, wrote decent suspense and spy novels and had multiple marriages and children over decades.

"Starring Ruth Wilson (Jane Eyre), Mrs. Wilson is a powerful three-part drama inspired by the memoir of Ms. Wilsons grandmother and family history. Set in 1940s and 1960s London and 1930s India, the series follows Alison Wilson, who thinks she is happily married until her husband, Alec, dies and a woman turns up on the doorstep claiming that she is the real Mrs. Wilson. Alison is determined to prove the validity of her own marriage and Alecs love for her but is instead led into a world of disturbing secrets."

deception and pain he caused. Seeing the children and grandchildren bond at the end was a positive. It was disappointing that his psychological profile, a delicate subject wasn't explored more specifically probably out of regard for the family ties. And he wasn't around to be examined. Poor wives, some sons.
Not a mental health expert, but I'd say he was a fairly skilled, creative and charming sociopath with some possible early life issues, a typical dx but the best I can think of now.

Just bingewatched all three episodes. Fascinating story, well-produced.
