United States of Al - TV Show....

Here's the background on the show:

Marine veteran Riley, home at last after serving in Afghanistan, is happily reunited with his friend Awalmir, who goes by Al, the interpreter with his unit, after a long struggle to get him a visa to travel to the United States from Afghanistan.

UNITED STATES OF AL stars Adhir Kalyan and Parker Young in a comedy about the friendship between Riley (Young), a Marine combat veteran struggling to readjust to civilian life in Ohio, and Awalmir (“Al”) (Kalyan), the Interpreter who served with his unit in Afghanistan and has just arrived to start a new life in America.

I watched the first season and became a fan. It's funny and sweet and it also takes on some touchy subjects. I recommend this as I'm hoping it comes back for a second season.
It might even be more timely and controversial given the events of the last few days.
