Actor Richard Deacon was #BornOnThisDay, May 14, 1921.

Actor Richard Deacon was #BornOnThisDay, May 14, 1921. Although Deacon appeared in over 100 TV shows, he is best remembered for playing TV producer "Mel Cooley" on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-'66). Deacon passed in 1984 (age 63) from #heartattack. #RIP #GoneTooSoon #BOTD #LGBTQ

Fred. He played tons of character roles, too. I saw him in a Rifleman last week.
