(9,791 posts)I DIVE for the mute button every time that thing comes on. The Jardiance one is so bad its entertaining. The Kars for Kids one literally hurts my ears.

(5,011 posts)and she did not react well to it. So, she has a definite disdain for both the drug and the commercial, but that disdain is not quite at the Sarah-McLachlan-animals-in-distress level for her.

(5,636 posts)Jardiance is expensive. There are people like me whose doctor thinks they need it. And this is what my money pays for. Like we need Busby Berkley excess to be sold on a medication for a serious condition. And the storyline of the action is beyond stupid.
halfulglas
(1,654 posts)It is usually a drug that still does not have a generic equivalent and so the manufacturer wants to gin up enough sales before it's old enough to go off patent. When they tell you to ask your doctor if the drug is "right" for you, your doctor interprets that as this patient wants me to prescribe this and may go to another doctor if I don't.
You almost never have a doctor definitively say, "this drug isn't appropriate for your condition" or "there are better and less expensive ways to treat your condition." But the patient almost never comes back later and definitively says, "Why didn't you tell me this drug was in such a higher tier that I have to pay so much extra."
You also never see ads saying take a generic Tylenol or ibuprofen for your pain, or you can safely take ibuprofen and acetaminophen together for greater pain control if needed rather than the prescription version.
hlthe2b
(106,340 posts)remodel ads. At least the Jardiance commercial--however silly--is upbeat (and for me, quickly becomes white noise). My examples spike my BP every damned time I hear them.

(508 posts)Apparently without it, plants would wilt as we walked by. Canaries would fall out of the sky, dead before they hit the pavement. And it's every single body part. I mean, who ever heard of 'facial odor'? I could imagine if it referred to a full beard with a week's worth of food stuck in it - but this stuff isn't marketed to men. Just us stinky chicks.
I mean, I have been known to take a feckin' shower once in a while. That seems to handle whatever stench comes up. Bar soap, generic no-tears shampoo and Mennen Speed Stick original. Nobody's passed out in my presence for ages.
That having been said, the Jardiance ad is egregious. Especially since DH uses it and we're currently in the donut hole, largely because of it. We don't just mute, we change the channel. Same thing for the animals; I just can't take that, even if the music wasn't so over the top.

(279 posts)The lyrics are just plain corny..."Jardiance is really swell...a little pill with a big story to tell!"
Who in hell uses the word "swell"anymore? I think the word went out sometime in 1950s or 60s along with "hep cat" and "beatnik" and "groovy"
Its total doggerel verse...forced, contrived and trivial
She looks at the sky and waves her arm and hand like the sun is shining for the first time ever and Jesus is making coming back on a cloud of gold....all over a pill
The woman is seriously overweight.. and while I don't mean to fat shame her..she should not be wiggling and dancing like a lean and trim woman ten years younger.
But here's the rub.. If people like the spot, the agency will assure the client they did a great job and should continue advertising..if people say they hate it the agency will say that is also good since people are paying attention!
Someone told me a long time ago, the broadcast industry lives and dies on bullshit.and this is a perfect example of it..

(52,250 posts)Apparently my complaints to the company were not the only ones. They received so many complaints that they have changed their commercial slightly so it is not as disgusting as it was. And when they run it back to back it is like a 5 minute commercial.
