(11,780 posts)Now that I think about it Im surprised we got to watch it. I guess it was after the daily news shows that my dad always watched and probably wasn't competing with whatever he used to like in the evening. Also early enough it was before lights out and bed time. For instance wed have to sneak down after he was in bed to watch mission impossible or Hawaii 5-0. My mom worked nights.

(92,678 posts)Last year a friend, who is 25 years younger, was visiting and we were hanging around and talking about some current outrage worthy of a good laugh and somehow I thought of Laugh-in and how outrageous some of their gags were... but also new.
So we googled up the original pilot as I explained how some of the stuff that they were doing was the origin of things we see today in comedy. We laughed all the way through. And we watched a Flip Wilson Show episode too. It was very educating for my friend and great blast to the past for me.

(5,011 posts)and one of the sets I had was Laugh-In. It was still photos from the show, but it (of course) made the photos in 3D. Any time someone was over at the house my parents would ask me to get it so the visiting grown-ups could see the cast in 3D.

(36,332 posts)If not for the laugh track it would have dropped with a thud. It is painful to watch, now. I mean, what's so funny about three second cuts of someone repeating "sock it to me" and "here come de judge" every freaking week? Oh sweet jebus, the hip fashions!
