I started watching it yesterday. It looked pretty cheesy so I gave up after about 45 minutes. Does it get better?

(26,727 posts)I'm a real science-fiction person, have been reading it since I learned to read some 70 years ago now. I am constantly disappointed by TV shows or movies that are supposed to be science fiction, but really aren't. I think the problem is that they are made by people who know how to make TV shows and movies, but have never read a real science fiction book in their lives.
For my money, the very best s-f movie is "Twelve Monkeys." Wow.
Yesterday I read a rant on-line about so many s-f movies being so terrible. I thought I remembered the site I saw it on, but apparently not, because I can no longer find it. However, if you feel like googling "rant on science fiction movies" you will find lots of material.
My bona fides are that I have been known to write a little science fiction, have had a handful of stories published, and I'm currently editing an anthology.

(23,980 posts)Started out reading Jules Verne as a youngster. Haven't read much lately but there have been some really good movies and shows done. "Travelers" on Netflix was quite well done. Great writing and acting. Of course, "2001: A Space Odyssey" is my favorite movie of al time.

(4,850 posts)just because I've been a fan of Katee Sackhoff ever since she played Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica. This is not the best role for her, but meh. I watched it anyway. The best thing I've seen her do since BSG has been playing Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian. That's a very Starbuck-like role. Anyhow, I probably wouldn't have stayed with it had it not been for her. Sorry I can't be more help!
The best sci-fi I've seen lately was Invasion on Apple+. Season 2 was awesome!
