🌠🛸🕶️ Dark Skies 🕶️ 🛸🌌

Dark Skies was a show that tried to tap into the popularity of The X-Files

Although it failed to get the X-Files type buzz

I would argue that it actually holds up better over time the way they were able to use historical events as plot devices against the backdrop UFO mythology.

Dark Skies actually came to mind watching an episode of Without a Trace on Charge TV recently..
Quotes

Duncan: [to Martin and Samantha] Wait, so you're like the real Mulder and Scully? I mean, that's it, right?

Martin: Yea, that's us.

Duncan: Yes!

References The X-Files (1993)

So the FBI agents on Without a Trace were making an X-Files reference to a missing person who claimed to have been abducted by aliens

The Agent being compared to Mulder was played by Eric Close the star of Dark Skies

It came out on dvd about a dozen years ago and I actually feel like the storytelling in Dark Skies holds up better than re-runs of The X-Files

Which is sort of ironic because like a lot of X-Files fans when Dark Skies came out I pushed back on a show that appeared to be trying to ride the momentum they had built in the sci-fi genre.

Another thing about the Dark Skies dvd is that the stars (Eric Close and Megan Ward) were so excited and proud looking back on it in their dvd commentary. That certainly helped to draw me in even more.
