no, you can't get past the wreck by driving up Touchstone Trail. you will get a 10 mile round trip back to Sybil Road if you try it. nobody cares what your GPS says. it is wrong.

(55,808 posts)I don't know how to post videos but I have a couple that are pretty funny. Another trucker from the company came from Texas and had to turn around at that Sybil exit, come back up the interstate, park on the shoulder, climb the fence, hike down through the rocks and brush and help the guy get unstuck and back the truck down the hill and back across the culverts. bent the shit out of his front bumper, and tore off all his mudflaps. there was a mesquite branch stuck in the front too.
help arrived - one guy on foot with a digging bar
backing over trashed culverts -
I took the helper guy up to his truck on the highway and on my way back I saw another vehicle in a strange spot. He said he got stuck (no idea where) and spent the night on the ranch too.

There is no alternate route unless you go all the way past Tombstone. You can NOT get through using Touchstone Trail/Texas Canyon. NOT A THROUGH ROAD!!!! Read the signs, save your tires and time. Go take a break in Benson.

(33,501 posts)mostly on the east bound rest stop and the Amerind - pretty much where the Walnut fire burned with it jumped the interstate. was that last year? two years ago? I can't remember. another semi made it all the way to the house about dark last night. left a crunched mesquite and a mud flap about halfway on his way back out to Sybil Road.
