County works to rectify wrong election date on sample ballots
Elections Director Constance Hargrove says the error stemmed from the primaries previously being held in August. And the department will have better proofing to ensure such an error doesnt happen again.
While the ballot was proofed, and the other part of the sample ballot was proofed that had the correct date, the fold with the vote centers, obviously, that August didn't get changed to July, she said. And so just paying closer attention to everything that's on that sample ballot.
The date was wrong on the portion of the document that listed the vote centers. The Elections Department sent postcards to more than 135,500 households notifying voters of the error.
I know that in this tense political climate, its easy to feel like someone's trying to mislead you, and that's not what we're trying to do in the elections department, Hargrove said. So it's definitely something that, you know, I regret that happened, and definitely we're going to work and make sure it doesn't happen again.
