4 key Arizona races on your 2024 ballot that you really shouldn't ignore
In Maricopa County, in particular, there are four races worth your attention:
- Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican, lost his reelection bid in July. His office administers the county’s elections, and the winner will effectively run the 2026 elections in Arizona’s most populous county.
- All five seats on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors are also on the ballot, but only two of those races are considered competitive. If Democrats win them, it could put the county under Democratic control for the first time in memory.
- The county sheriff is up for election.
- And the school superintendent is up for election.
