Judge punts, leaving a North Carolina voter to run for the Arizona Legislature

Republicans struggling to hold onto control of the Arizona Legislature can breathe a sigh of relief.

A Maricopa County judge on Monday ruled that a Republican legislative candidate who, according to the Arizona Constitution, isn’t qualified to serve in the Legislature can run for the Legislature anyway.

“If (Michael) Way is elected, it will be up to the Arizona Legislature to judge his qualifications,” Superior Court Judge Rodrick Coffey wrote.

Nice punt. If voters toss Coffey off the bench this November, perhaps the Arizona Cardinals will come calling.
