U of A Demands Democrats Stop Using Hog Image In Campaign

http://5newsonline.com/2012/10/30/u-of-a-demands-democrats-stop-using-hog-image-in-campaign/

The University of Arkansas this month asked the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to stop using a Razorback image in political advertising.

The Washington, D.C.-based Democratic committee recently used a Hog image in campaign literature criticizing Rep. Charlie Collins, R-Fayetteville. Collins, a first-term legislator, is vying for the state House District 84 seat against Adella Gray, a Fayetteville Democrat.
One mail piece, shown in the photograph accompanying this story, asserts that Collins has not been supportive of the university in his initial two-year House term.

The cease-and-desist letter was sent Oct. 22 on the university’s behalf by Harold J. Evans, a lawyer with Williams & Anderson, a Little Rock law firm.

The one on the campaign piece sure doesn't look like the copyrighted one to me.

1. They don't "own" the image of a generic hog--that hog ain't the same as their hog!

The teeth ain't the same atall! The ears and eyes are different, the aspect and perspective dissimilar, the color is close, but not the same...I think they don't have a leg to stand on.

Since wild razorbacks are supposed to be native to Arkansas, it should be fair for anyone to use a razorback image that isn't an obvious rip-off of the university's logo.

However, I think the university got a cease-and-desist order against a shirt maker a few years ago that was selling shirts that featured one razorback going doggie-style on another one, with the words "Go Hogs, Go!" on one shirt, and "Makin' Bacon" on another.

'owned' by the University. He didn't return my call.

In my opinion, it was just another of the dozens of subtle 'news' stories in NWA that shows how bad and evil the Democrats are.
