An Arkansas community college will investigate allegations that fans attending basketball games yelled monkey noises and crow caws at black opponents, an official said Monday.
North Arkansas College mens and womens basketball teams played Labette Community College in Harrison on Wednesday, the teams' online schedules show. On Saturday, the Parsons Sun, a southeast Kansas newspaper that covers the Labette teams, reported that the visiting players were met with racist chants.
Video footage of the game showed a member of the North Arkansas crowd cawing like a crow several times when black Labette players shot free throws, according to the Sun.
North Arkansas fans were also said to have made monkey noises directed at Labette players, often when the visiting team was on offense.

(263 posts)KARK Channel 4 has an interview with an African-American man in Jacksonville who says he has been the victim of racially-fueled harassment and vandalism at his home over the past six months, including having his dog poisoned, his truck stolen and his garage and its contents destroyed by arson, with the perpetrator apparently spray painting "Move n****r" on the outside of the burned building.
Kevyn Fowler told KARK that last August, he found his three-year-old English bulldog Sasha dead in her backyard pen, poisoned. A week later, someone stole a truck from Fowler's yard. Then, in December, his garage was destroyed by fire, with investigators later finding the message spray-painted on the back of the building.
Jacksonville PD is reportedly investigating the incidents.
