A new poll released Feb. 7 shows Democrat Mike Ross beating his Republican opponent in the Arkansas governor’s race, 44-41! “The Republic[an] Party is now in full-fledged panic mode over the Arkansas Governor’s Race,” wrote one local observer.

Washington Republicans immediately responded to the poll with a hard-hitting, fact-free television ad smearing President Obama and blaming the president for Bush-era spending policies. They placed a $170,000 television buy to put the ad on the air this week.

The ad makes no sense, but with that kind of money behind it you can bet it’s going to put a dent in our Democratic candidate’s numbers – unless we respond in the next 48 hours. Pulling off a victory in Arkansas would be an amazing accomplishment for Democrats in 2014 – and the polls show that we can do it.

is not particularly comforting, given that means that 15% of voters are still undecided, in a state that has had a Republican governor for only 16 years total since Reconstruction.
