Whooping cough cases in Arkansas on the rise: Health officials warn of rising trend

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. —
Arkansans have reported more than five times as many cases of whooping cough than last year, the Arkansas Department of Health announced in a news release Wednesday.
Most of the recent cases in Arkansas have come from children and teenagers, the release states.
Over thirty counties have reported at least one case in 2024.
This is part of a nationwide increase in the disease, which is also called pertussis.
