Republican door knockers intimidate voters while hunting for fraud, say officials

The canvassers in California's Shasta County in September wore reflective orange vests and official-looking badges that read “Voter Taskforce.” Four residents said they mistook them for government officials.

But the door knockers didn't explain where to vote or promote a candidate, the usual work of canvassers ahead of a big election.

Instead, they grilled residents on their voting history and who lived in their homes, probing questions that might have violated state laws on intimidation and harassment, according to the county's chief election official.

At one house, they interrogated a couple about the whereabouts of their adult daughter. At another, they listed names of registered voters and demanded to know if they still lived at the address.

3. The basic approach to handle these creeps is simple

Don't answer the door. If you've answered the door, don't answer questions.

If they are really government officials, they must obey the 4th amendment, and so can only have access to your property with a warrant which has been properly executed and signed by a judge. If they don't have a warrant, they have no right to be on your property once asked to leave. If they DO have a warrant, they will come through your door, walls or windows on their own accord. At which point, your best approach is not to answer any questions they ask.

In my own personal case, they will be informed that I am going inside to obtain assistance from Mr. Mossberg, and perhaps they should consider leaving in the interim.

If a friend or relative stops by unexpectedly, they'll call and let me know they are out front.
Campaign season has been a bit more tolerable this way in my MAGA neighborhood. Arguing with them is a waste of my energy.

Loving Labrador’s, but act like pits to strangers. We spend all our time alone in surrounding Forests away from people and they are Leary. But as soon as you pet em, it’s all love. But the door knockers do not know that. I did teach em to hate red though.

closed the door on them or not answered the door. I actually I never answer the door to strangers. To the residents who were grilled on their voting history, I would have picked up the phone and called the police at the same time telling those people it was none of their business.

This is going back about 35 years or so, but at that the time, my MIL had a darling little Bijon, who was a complete mush. When we visited, she would play with our young son, tearing back and forth across the living room, and never, ever acted other than friendly and loving to anyone and everyone, regardless of provocation.

Then, one day, in the middle of the day when MIL was alone, some guy knocked on the door. When she answered it, he tried to force his way in. And suddenly this cute litle Bijon was airborne and Cujo. And single handedly chased him away.
And then she reverted to the cute little doggie we all knew, and this behavior was never seen again.

20. She does occasionally bark at someone,

usually if she's in the car. I've never figured out why, just every few months she'll decide she doesn't like someone and bark at them. Several of my neighbors and people from work have talked about our dogs doing that, and we all agree that if someone gets barked at by our friendly dogs, we'll assume they're a POS unless they prove otherwise.

In the door situation above, I don't know what she'd do. The door knockers probably don't have any malicious intent, they're just annoying. So they probably wouldn't get more than the "HEY! DOOR DOOR DOOR DIDN'T YOU HEAR?? DOOR DOOR!!" barking that would stop when I opened it.

I tried to train her to pee on tRump signs, but that didn't work either.
