2. Street cars were very common back then, most every city had them

But the auto industry did a very good job of marketing and took over transportation. I often wonder if the trillions of dollars spent on cars went into public transportation how much better off we’d be.

with the clock tower. That's the Ferry Building. It's all masonry and it survived the earthquake without major damage and still stands today.

Everything weaving together...cars, horses and carts, streetcars, pedestrians and with no insurance and often with no streetlights/traffic signals.
