Massive fire breaks out at Disneyland park

KTLA
The fire ignited on Tom Sawyer Island during the Fantasmic! nighttime water and fireworks show held on the Rivers of America.

Citizen video captured by parkgoers shows massive flames fully engulfing Maleficent’s dragon prop on stage. The flames first ignited from the dragon’s face before spreading to the rest of its body.

Video showed cast members evacuating packed crowds out of the waterfront viewing area and nearby attractions as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

Disneyland officials responded to KTLA’s request for comment, saying:
“During the final showing of Fantasmic at Disneyland park on Saturday evening, the dragon caught fire. Anaheim Fire & Rescue quickly responded and the fire was extinguished. All cast members were evacuated from Tom Sawyer Island. Due to smoke and wind, attractions near the island were safely cleared of any guests, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.”

Video shows the area around the flame mechanism catching, then the head, then the neck. Looks like a simple mechanical malfunction & the "massive" fire was isolated to that one machine.

I wonder if DeSantis has any idea yet how outmatched he is by Disney's ability to handle a situation.

It would be naive not to consider this possibility.

Just because it's not in Florida doesn't mean that some other person hasn't been motivated by DeSantis and right wing rhetoric to attack Disneyland. Their Pride show may have been enough to motivate someone from Shasta to come down and share.

that Disneyland CA is in Buena Park, Orange County, CA. Orange
County runs notoriously Republican. It doesn't stretch
the imagination too far to consider the possibility of some
local RWNJ kids infiltrating the park and trying to sabotage
things. This event needs to be carefully investigated before
there's a real tragedy.
There's a reason SoCal locals say "Don't mess with The Mouse"...
