to get a double double. Twice in recent years I found great reggae artists and was able to see them while I was there. Go to the beach. Pretty much any of them. Have a great time; it'll be 17 years in Oct that I've been in NC and I'm still homesick.

There's not much Sumo in the US, so pretty unique and offbeat!

There are also a couple of All-Star Sumo exhibition events in LA and SF in June

..."There is no life East of Sepulveda."

That may have been true, at least in the case of Los Angeles County, but I assure anyone who asks that there is definitely life East (and Northeast) of Los Angeles.

One can drive to Hermosa Beach, and if one can find parking, walk along The Strand, and if it's still there - it probably isn't - have a breakfast at Uncle Bill's Pancake House in Manhattan Beach. It's where I learned to love blueberry pancakes, but my wife makes them now in New Jersey.

Other than that, I have no advice. No offense to anyone here, but in my jaundiced experience the best thing to do in LA County is to get out of it.

JPL/NASA has free public tours
https://tours.jpl.nasa.gov/events/tours/ -- I once took this tour and it was fascinating; I never realized the extent of climate research being done there. I know they've had massive layoffs there, so best to check and see whether this still exists

The Time Travel Mart (I've never been, but it's on my to-do list)

Enjoy a drink at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel for a classic LA experience (caution: may be dress code)

Check out Yamashiro's in the Hollywood Hills. Excellent food and atmosphere with amazing views. Make sure to secure reservations if you do go, though.
