William Go (D) Raises $52,200 in 3 Weeks for Irvine City Council, Builds Broad Coalition in District 2

Irvine, CA – Longtime resident, business owner, and community volunteer William Go launched his campaign for Irvine City Council District 2 on June 9, quickly amassing momentum and staying on track to out-fundraise all other candidates. In just the first 3 weeks of his campaign, William raised over $52,200 from 149 individual contributors and earned more than a dozen endorsements from local leaders, including Irvine Council Member Tammy Kim and Irvine Unified School District Trustee Dr. Jeff Kim.

In William Go’s first FPPC filing report for the June 30 deadline, the vast majority of all contributors live in Orange County; 80% are in OC, 15% CA, 5% greater US, and no international donors. This data proves the overwhelming local and grassroots support pouring in directly from our community for William’s groundbreaking candidacy, showcasing his momentum and marking a strong start to the campaign.

William Go’s campaign now has a clear path to victory this November. His strong campaign leads grassroots fundraising among all candidates for District 2. William is also the only Democratic AAPI candidate (Asian American and Pacific Islanders) in a district that has both a majority AAPI population and a Democratic voter registration advantage, creating a historic opportunity for a more diverse City Council. The California Voting Rights Act has significantly influenced Irvine’s adoption of district-based elections, with the goal of better reflecting our diverse population on the City Council, and promoting a more inclusive political landscape in Irvine.

Council Member Tammy Kim provided this statement of support: “I am proud to endorse William Go for Irvine City Council, District 2. As an Irvine resident for 2 decades, homegrown leader, and successful business owner, I know that William will be a champion for residents from all backgrounds. He is the best candidate in this race who is committed to building a better future for Irvine. William’s commitment to our community’s safety, investing in the Great Park, and supporting housing affordability will improve the lives of Irvine families. William is the right leader for District 2.”
