Shasta County Election 2024: Anderson City Council candidates running on Nov. 5 speak up

Four candidates face off for three seats on the Anderson City Council in the Nov. 5 general election.

Two incumbents are among those running: Anderson Mayor Stan Neutze and Councilwoman Susie Baugh.

The other two candidates are Shasta County Commission on Aging representative Bonnie Simmons and Shasta Mosquito Vector Control District Board President Darin Hale. Both candidates also serve on the Anderson Planning Commission.

The third council seat on the ballot is currently held by Melissa Hunt.

First appointed in 2007, Hunt said she's stepping aside because it's "healthy for a city to experience new blood and new ideas." She also said Hale and Simmons are both the best "kind of people to represent Anderson."
