Measure M School Bond Issue On The Fremont Ballot, Nov. 2024

FREMONT, CA — Fremont residents will begin receiving November 2024 election ballots in just over a week, as Alameda County is required to begin the mailing process by Oct. 7.

Of particular interest to Fremont residents in Measure M, a bond issue placed on the ballot by Fremont Unified School District.

The bond aims to raise $919 million for infrastructure improvements. If passed, the measure would fund renovations to aging school facilities, technology upgrades, and construction of new classrooms to accommodate student enrollment.

Measure M requires a 55-percent majority for approval and would impose an estimated tax of $49 per $100,000 of assessed property value, or an extra $490 in taxes each year on a $1 million home. According to the filing, "The best estimate of total debt service, including principal and interest, that would be required to be repaid if all the bonds are issued and sold will be approximately $2.0 billion."
